Join Team Telomere for the 2025 Million Dollar Bike Ride!
Every mile we ride and every dollar we raise fuels groundbreaking research for Telomere Biology Disorders (TBDs)! TBDs are a group of rare conditions that can affect the body in many ways, including causing bone marrow failure, pulmonary fibrosis, liver disease, cancer, and other conditions. Research funding for TBDs is severely limited. Investing in TBD research is critical to advancing better treatments and finding a cure.
Since 2014, Team Telomere has partnered with Penn’s Orphan Disease Center to drive high-quality research that advances treatments and improves patient outcomes. To date, our community has raised over $580,000 for TBD research, helping to fund clinical trials, explore potential treatments, and deepen our understanding of these diseases.
Our goal for this year is to raise $40,000 for TBD research!
Why We Ride
Our MDBR journey began in 2015 as "Team Josh’s DCO Riders," honoring Joshua Friedman. Josh passed away in 2011 from Dyskeratosis Congenita (DC), a telomere biology disorder. Josh lived a full and beautiful life and touched many people throughout. His lasting legacy is a gift to our community.
Every rider, fundraiser, and donor helps push forward the discoveries needed to improve care and find better treatments for TBDs.
We are asking our community to rally their friends, family, and networks to support accelerating TBD research. By creating a fundraiser this MDBR season, you will accelerate the medical and scientific community’s research in finding causes, effective treatments, and a path towards a cure.
