Let’s Fund Research Toward My Favorite Four-Letter Word: CURE

$1,500 towards $5,000

In 2019, I lost my brilliant husband, Chad, at just 47. Chad's death from a Telomere Biology Disorder (TBD) was the devastating end of our two-year grueling medical odyssey that sent us around the world seeking solutions. I resolved that no other family should have to endure a trauma like ours. That resolution led me to Team Telomere.

My goal is simple: advance science toward better treatments and, one day, a CURE (my favorite four-letter word!).

Here are some of Team Telomere’s recent accomplishments:

  • Big, bold research: In the last year Team Telomere funded over $1.3M in patient-centered, high-impact TBD research towards potential treatments, including the Carson Family TBD Research Award.
  • Improved diagnosis: In 2022 I co-edited an update to Team Telomere’s Clinical Guidelines. Since then this work has directly contributed to improved diagnosis of TBDs, with more than 400 copies being distributed in the last year alone to clinicians, researchers, and families worldwide.
  • Increased awareness: Chad's TBD went undiagnosed for years because nobody identified it. That's unacceptable. Team Telomere is putting TBDs front and center in the medical community by regularly convening hundreds of international experts for Summits and Research Roundtables. I've also personally presented our Clinical Guidelines at major medical conferences across the country to extend our outreach.

Our small but mighty organization continues to make incredible progress, but our work is only just beginning. A donation to Team Telomere is an investment in a future free of TBDs. An investment in Team Telomere is an investment in science 🔬.

Your donations fuel three critical areas:

  • Funding the CURE: Accelerating medical research to find causes, effective treatments, and, ultimately, a cure for TBDs.
  • Education and Advocacy: Improving early diagnosis by ensuring TBDs are recognized sooner and that every affected person has accessible care, resources, and community.
  • Support and Hope: Providing essential support, from Community Chats to our Legacy Box program for bereaved families, to ease the overwhelming circumstances faced by patients and their loved ones.

Will you support Team Telomere in creating even more breakthroughs in 2026 and beyond?

Losing Chad broke my world. Now, I'm rebuilding it through science. Thank you for helping me transform my loss into life-changing progress!
