In honor of Dr. James Dautel

After losing his brother and sister to liver disease in their 50s, and then being diagnosed himself with liver disease and cancer, my father, Dr. James Dautel, began a relentless search to better understand his condition. Through his incredible care with Dr. Keaveny at the Mayo Clinic, he began genetic testing and they discovered that he had Short Telomere Syndrome. This is rarely tested for in patients that are diagnosed with cancer and other diseases. If there were more studies around it, we believe the increase risk of cancer and other diseases could be prevented.
His son, Dylan Dautel, a Ph.D in chemical and biomolecular engineering is now working in genetic medicine. He is currently work on research that could be used to cure this disease. However, support for this research is limited.
We urgently need to raise awareness for earlier telomere testing, quicker diagnosis-to-treatment connections, and funding for research to find better treatments and a cure.
Team Telomere is at the forefront of patient advocacy and research. I urge you to support this organization that is as committed as we are to finding answers.
Thank you for your love and support of this cause,
Kathy, Spring, KC, Dylan and Jacob
