A Donation Empowers Research Toward a Cure
Let’s fund a cure-oriented research project that will also expand our understanding of basic cellular biology
Can you help me fund Telomere Biology Disorder research in honor of my amazing husband, Chad, with a donation today?
Chad was not just my husband. He was also my best friend, a dad of two, a leading Silicon Valley technologist, an environmental warrior, and a super healthy person who suddenly became super sick.
Not until Chad was diagnosed with bone marrow failure on top of his liver cirrhosis did we learn about short telomeres as the probable cause of both major health issues.
After Chad died in 2019, I was struck by the notion that I never wanted another family to endure the devastation that ours did.
I joined the Team Telomere board with the goal of doing whatever I could to advance science toward better treatments for this unforgiving disease—one that used to be considered “one in a million” but may be many times more prevalent and is becoming increasingly diagnosed at every stage of life.
To that end, I funded the $100K Carson Family Telomere Biology Disorder Research Award to empower us to dream big and bold. I've also co-edited Team Telomere's Diagnosis and Management Guidelines—a comprehensive reference manual for patients, physicians, and researchers and a "source of truth" for this disease—and presented this work at conferences all around the US.
I remain committed to fundraising for a cure for this maybe-no-so-rare disease that has implications for cancer, aging, and longevity. But we need more shots on goal.
You can help me in my efforts. Let’s work together to fund another $100K cure-oriented research project that will also inform our knowledge of basic cellular science at the chromosome level.
Team Telomere is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and you’ll receive a tax statement for your donation. If your company offers matching (as many do), I’m happy to help facilitate that to magnify your contribution.
I appreciate our network of love and support that made Chad's and my medical odyssey bearable. I also appreciate everyone’s contributions to research that will help not just critically ill patients like Chad, but advance basic cellular science. Thank you for donating today and keeping Team Telomere in mind for your holiday/end-of-year gift giving.
